Inkflow combines editorial expertise with a designer’s eye, to create a professional publication of which you can be proud.
I'm Jeremy, and I began my career in publishing over 30 years ago, in the education division of a global publisher.
As an editor of magazines I built up a broader range of editorial skills than a typical publishing role involves. I’ve edited, nurtured and commissioned all kinds of texts into print, from news and features to stories and non-fiction. I learned how clarity, ease and structure in communication is key, how less is more, and not just for the sake of a word count. I absorbed all that was happening in children’s literature as review copies passed by. Working with writers, illustrators and designers, to create multi-faceted magazines and books, gave me the skills to manage anything into print.
A broad range of freelance projects, from story books to government education resources and arts publications, grew to incorporate graphic design, drawing on years of hands-on career experience and study.
Creative Writing was part of my English Literature and Language BA. Critical theory, and study of the structure and development of storytelling over the centuries – right up to the included voices of today – taught me to examine texts from every angle. I combined these skills with my publishing background to study creative writing and work with fiction. I continue to work at my own, where my editor’s eye seems to struggle…
Working for a global publisher who brought the Harry Potter titles to the US, I saw first-hand how books transform lives and foster the imagination. These experiences enrich us forever, a theme I explored in my online journal Whistles in the Wind.
